Zowie FK1 review

I’ll make a wild guess and say that you saw a bunch of gaming mouse reviews , but you couldn’t decide which one is the best mouse for CS:GO to have. Well, if some of the top-rated gaming mice’s for CS:GO seems huge and cumbersome to you, such as SteelSeries Rival 300, Razer Deathadder Chroma, Zowie EC1-A, you’ve come to the right place.

Zowie FK1 is perfect, elegant ambidextrous mouse, and its kind of obvious that Zowie targeted FPS gamers with this one. They made significant improvements to the FK1 version, and its not surprise that the Zowie FK1, together with his cousin Zowie EC1-A, are among the most played mice’s by CS:GO pro-players.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS

In the past i had experience with almost every mouse that was relevant for FPS gaming, but never with the Zowie FK series. I personally prefer ergonomic mice’s which are designed for the right-handed gamers only, because i have quite large hands, but i must say that Zowie FK1 surprised me with his design.

When i unpacked it, what i saw was a simple mouse, nothing special and revolutionary about it. But when i placed my hand on it, well it fitted like a damn glove. Even tho Zowie FK1 is an ambidextrous mouse (can be used by both right-handed and left-handed users), it offers kind of perfect comfort when playing. I am  claw-ish-gripper and it felt like i’ve been playing this mouse for ages, its very, very easy to get used to it.

Zowie fk1 side

When it comes to ambidextrous mice’s, Zowie FK1 has the BEST placement of the side-buttons by far, and the 2nd place belongs to the SteelSeries Sensei. Major problem with the ambidextrous mice’s are their side-buttons – from the other side of your thumb, which on other mice’s you can press unintentionally while playing. On Zowie FK1 that just doesn’t happen too often. I had this problem with other mice’s like Kana v2, Razer Taipan and others, but Zowie probably took a note from the other companies mistakes and made a near-perfect product. Learning from the mistakes of others is the sweetest thing, isn’t it?!

Zowie FK1 has 7 buttons, which are primary mouse 1&2 buttons, scroll wheel which serves the function as the mouse 3 button, and 2 buttons from each side of the mouse for the purpose of ambidextrous design. It also has a DPI button which is on the bottom side of the mouse, and if you want to change your DPI while playing, you must flip your mouse, which for users that change DPI settings on-the-fly can be distracting.

The gliders on the Zowie Fk1 are very similar to the Zowie EC1-A ones. They are huge, which i like very much because the gliding is smoother on most surfaces, and that contributes to the consistency in your aim in CS:GO.

When i found out that Zowie FK1 has the same sensor as the Zowie EC1-A, which is Avago 3310, and since i had experience with Zowie EC1-A, i already knew the outcome of this review – PERFECT PERFORMANCE! I consider Avago 3310 sensor as one that makes the difference between good mouse, and the best mouse for CS:GO and FPS games. It’s just flawless in every aspect of the testings. And when you combine that sensor with quite perfect design of an ambidextrous mouse, good switches feedback and pleasant coating-material, you got a damn great mouse – which is Zowie FK1.

Zowie fk1 review

In-game, the Zowie FK1’s switches provided very good tactile feedback. The feeling when one-tapping with this mouse is awesome, and the side-buttons also have perfect travel time and are easily accessible. The scroll-wheel on the other hand, as always when Zowie is in the context, is not perfect.

Also, same as the Zowie EC1-A, you wont find any customization and lighting options available to you on this mouse, its simple plug-and-play without any drivers and engines needed. But that’s why we do reviews for CS:GO purposes. In Counter-strike and high precision FPS games, you don’t necessarily need all of that fancy options, but you need perfect sensor performance and comfort, which Zowie FK1 completely provides.

All in all, i’m impressed with the design and the performance, which makes Zowie FK1 one of the best mouses for CS:GO purposes.

FINAL THOUGHTS

I feel like I’ve already gave away my final thoughts for this mouse. Its just flawless in every aspect. The perfect tracking speed, friction-less gliding and quite perfect switches response, makes him true candidate for the list of the top 5 best mice’s for CS:GO. Thumbs up to Zowie for the improvements that they did for their FK series, Zowie FK1 is really perfect mouse for FPS games.

Single downside that i can think of is the scroll-wheel, which is not providing perfect feedback, at least not for me. Other than that, it proved to be on point in every stage of the testings.

Zowie FK1, as we said – is engine-less mouse, there is no customization options available. However, i do not consider that as an issue, quite opposite, that’s a big plus in my book. In CS:GO you need simplicity and perfect performance, you don’t need bunch of useless options that are just distracting you from the immanent point of the game – to pop some heads. But that’s my preference and opinion.

If you want to have fancy customization and lighting options, you can very well check SteelSeries Rival 300, Razer Deathadder Chroma, Logitech G303, which are also one of the best mice’s for CS:GO.
